Dr Chitra graduated in 2001 with an MBBS from Sri Siddartha Medical College Tumkur. She did her DGO from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli, in 2006.She was awarded the prestigious Membership to royal college of obstetricians and gynecologists, London in 2010.

She has 19 years of experience in providing evidence-based medicine and quality healthcare to women across all strata of society. She has worked at Sakra World Hospital as a senior consultant OBGYN for the last eight years. Before this, she worked as a consultant and director of South Bangalore OBGYN doctors.

Post membership, she was involved in community-based obstetrics and gynaecology for a year, in conducting free clinics for the urban poor and training of health workers.

She has a keen interest in teaching and training candidates for MRCOG.

She is an active trainer in clinical skills and simulation training.

She has been a faculty for skill training and Emergency Obstetric Care, locally as well as for outreach programmes and CTG training programmes conducted by BSOG and Bangalore RCOG Trust.

She has also been involved in grafting protocols and training nurse/midwifery staff to improve care standards.

She has held the treasurer post of Bangalore RCOG Trust.
